Daniel Coulthard, Bluevale Agri Co Pty Ltd - Testimonial

"We received our drier in mid January this year which was purchased predominantly for the drying of our irrigated maze and wheat crops. Alvan Blanch helped us design the drier to meet our specific dimensional requirements. These were some significant structural, electrical and cosmetic modifications that have allowed us to fit the machine to a modified step deck trailer. Our drier is now fully mobile and self contained with in and out feed conveys, generator, fuel supply and hydraulics. Capable of travelling long distances at speeds up to 100km/hr and easily set up ready to work in under 20 mins.... (read more)

Jim Duncan

From a family farm in rural Aberdeenshire where grain growing was / is a challenge due to weather, and the ability to store a crop well through the winter was also seen as something of a headache. Drying crop was an important part of learning about the cycles on a farm. Early part of working career was with an Alvan Blanch agent in Aberdeenshire, assisting in installation of a number of driers through the late 70s.

Market Overview - Australia

• Australia is a relatively small grain producer on a global scale. Though due to our low levels of domestic consumption Australia exports a significant volume of grain each year.
• There are various different types of grains that Australia produces which can be divided between summer and winter crops.
• The main grain crops grown in Australia include; wheat, canola, oats, lupins, sorghum and barley.
• Corporate ownership and production is increasing, grain production is still dominated by family farming operations.
• Since deregulation in 2008, grain marketing, sales and exportation sectors have undergone significant restructuring.
• The capital intensive nature of infrastructure facilitating storage, transport and export means this sector is typically dominated by a few major players.
• There are an abundance of other crops grown in temperate regions as well: Maize (or corn locally), Almonds and other key nut products, Poppy, Seed production is also important – especially in Tasmania

Alvan Blanch APAC see a clear increase in interest in driers along the Southern Coast-line of the country, with West Australia, Victoria and Tasmania leading the way in increasing investment for the future - the DF range of driers is currently popular in the market. Reference sites already in play in Victoria, and soon to be in West Australia (late 2015).
